According to Astrology: Signs, Planets, Houses, and Aspects.

Those 12 Sun Signs are NOT Astrology. They are just one part of the Alphabet of Astrology. The other parts of the alphabet are the Planets,Houses, and Aspects.

According to Astrology:

Each Planet has Functions. For instance, the Moon indicates your emotions, Mars your energy, etc.

Each Sign affects How the planet functions. Any planet in the Sign of Aries, for instance, will tend to be extra active. Any planet in the Sign of Pisces, on the other hand, will tend to function more through the imagination.

Each House shows Where in your life the planet is working the most. Any planet in your 2nd House, for example, will affect your money and possessions. Any planet in your 5th House will affect your love and romance.

Aspects are certain angles between planets. Planets aspecting each other are working together, for better or worse.

Rulerships and Classifications

The Polarities (Genders)

Dividing the signs into masculine and feminine genders, or polarities, has always caused some confusion. In society’s terms, those terms are synonymous with male (manly) and female (womanly). However, in the Arts and Sciences we use these terms to define energy forms. A masculine energy is active, aggressive, and very linear. Feminine energy is receptive, magnetic, and non-linear.

Quadrature

Quadrature designates how the energy flows with a particular sign. In other words, it describes how the sign will act and react to other energy. This is broken down into three forms: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Cardinal signs vibrate energies that initiate change and new beginnings, as represented by the fact that the Sun passes through them during the first month of each season. Cardinal signs tend to react in bursts of energy.

Fixed signs tend to be very thorough and seem unstoppable. The Sun passes through Fixed signs during the second month of every season. They may rally for change, but tend to resist that change once it’s upon them. They represent the energies that endure. They tend to persevere at all costs until tasks, goals, or aims are achieved.

The Sun passes through Mutable signs during the third month of each season. Mutable energies are versatile, flexible, and changeable. They can also be fickle, erratic, and inconstant. This is representative of their placement, as they are responsible for clearing out the old, outdated to make way for the new, while ensuring that those energies which should remain are preserved.

The Elements

Most of us know the Elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The qualities that these energies hold within our Circles and work are the same energies that are manifested through the signs. Hence, Fire signs are active, action-oriented, attract attention, and love spontaneity. They corresond to the spirit and the spiritual side of life.

Air signs are the mental signs of the Zodiac. They represent thought and intellectualism. Like Air, they are light, elusive to the point of seeming aloof at times, and uncontainable. They love conversation, communication, technology, and social gatherings.

Earth signs are the solid, grounding energies of the Zodiac. The energies here are supportive and practical. Their focus is on what we often consider the mundane aspects of life such as food, shelter, and responsibilities.

Water signs represent the emotional side of our nature. Like our emotions, these signs are changeable, subtle, and tend to be very tuned into their intuitions. They can walk into a room, guage the mood of the room, and adjust their behavior accordingly.

SUN’s ASPECTS…..

Sun trine *Pluto (21° Taurus 56’10″~27° Virgo 8’52”) orb 5°.2
It is easy and natural for those born under a harmonious aspect between the Sun and Pluto to find a passion and pursue it, and to focus on a goal. These people are not much scared of anything. They enjoy and embrace growth, especially of the psychological kind. They love a good mystery, and they are adept at solving it. Many people with these aspects feel they have a “calling” or destiny. They readily assign meaning to what others might consider “ordinary” events. They look for symbols, and read between the lines in most any situation. The physical vitality is generally strong, and the body is usually able to heal quickly.

Others tend to respect those born under a harmonious aspect between the Sun and Pluto. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty, and they are usually quick to help others–not only with mundane tasks, but also on a spiritual or psychological level. Their insight is sharp and sometimes awe-inspiring. These are perceptive people who are not easily rattled or surprised in life. They are not do-gooders, and they are unlikely law-breakers. However, they are not afraid of the “dark side” of human nature, and they will bend the rules from time to time if they feel the need to do so. Many take particular pleasure in growth and life’s lessons. They are not fond of superficiality, and are generally the first to spot pretense of any kind. Some experiment with their powers to deceive at some early point in their lives, but generally grow in their strength and integrity. In fact, many do their best to rid themselves of any self-delusion that we are all susceptible to at times. These people are passionate and can be intense. They have a hunger to experience more than just an “ordinary” life, and they can be quite ambitious. Some are perfectionists, demanding much from themselves and reasonable amounts of effort and honesty from others.

The trine aspect is the most dynamic of the harmonious aspects and those with this trine have incorporated the traits of this aspect into their personalities, expressing them naturally and consistently.

Sun conjunct Saturn

 SUN (21° 56′ Taurus) conjunction SATURN (25° Taurus 23′) orb 3°45′

This is a rather sober aspect. Those born under a Sun conjunct Saturn aspect, in their youth, are humbled in some way such that they do not feel free to express their will in an outgoing and direct manner. As children, their expressions of their ego were thwarted, which led to some self-consciousness regarding self-expression. They were painfully aware that what they wanted, they didn’t always get. As adults, they do not feel comfortable as the center of attention. For whatever reason, people with this aspect in their natal charts feel the need to control their impulses. It is easy for them to assume responsibility for more than most.

Eventually, Sun-Saturn people carve their own identity. There is a strong need to be recognized as accomplished, but some fear of the spotlight at the same time. These people can be hard on themselves, as they aim to achieve perhaps more than most. The face of Saturn is generally serious, but Sun-Saturn people can also have a hilariously sarcastic sense of humor. They are not the types to jump up and down, dramatize, or let loose. They wouldn’t be described as “bubbly” or enthusiastic. Generally, they come across as somewhat skeptical and pessimistic, cautious, and slightly reserved. There is a distinct streak of the conservative in these people. Some are rigid and strict, expecting others to live up to their high standards. However, most people with this aspect are simply very aware that life has its limitations. They are not afraid of responsibility, and probably take on more than their fair share of it. The best thing about this aspect is that the serious and reserved expression characteristic of their youth gradually relaxes with time and with age. Sun-Saturn people loosen up with maturity.

Alternate interpretations:

Sun conjunct Saturn: You have a mature and often somber demeanor. You are serious, reserved, self-disciplined, highly responsible and conscientious. You advance in life rather slowly, through your own efforts and persistence. You are also rather stern and judgmental, especially with yourself. Cautious and careful, it is difficult for you to really let go, to be spontaneous and playful. You like to be in control of yourself.

Sun conjunct Saturn: You take life seriously and have an incredible ability to learn from every experience in life. You can handle responsibility better than most, but you will resent it if others try to pass on their loads for you to carry. As a child you probably received strict discipline and therefore matured early. You may have experienced restriction from either or both parents during your early years. You learned early in life that the world does not owe you anything, and you never expect a free lunch from anyone. Yet you emerged with a strong sense of ambition and are creative in using your material resources. Force yourself to be generous with others; the leaner years have given you an appreciation for what you have, but that is no reason to be tight about it.

In love relationships you seek a partner who has a good sense of self-respect. He must also totally support your efforts to achieve your goals in life, and be willing to endure some sacrifice in order to receive a future payoff. You need a mate who is sincere and humble, and who can understand your total devotion to your life’s dream. Try to choose a partner who does not take life quite so seriously as you do so that they can help lighten you up when you get too heavy.

Sun conjunction Saturn: (The Restricted) You have a heavy sense of duty that often limits your own potential. You tend to worry too much about “tomorrow,” even though your practicality and industry spurs you to accumulate necessary, if Spartan things of life. You sometimes make circumstances more difficult than they really are and may be accused of lacking a sense of humor. Give yourself credit, not only for what you accomplish but for being a solid citizen that our planet can count on for the stability we need.

Sun conjunct Saturn: Sun/Saturn contacts bring focus and discipline to your self-expressive and assertive drives. Saturn prudently regulates the vitality and life force of the Sun. There is a serious cast to your personality, plus great ambition, discretion, determination, and organizational ability. You have a highly developed sense of duty, tremendous powers of concentration, and a capacity for hard work and persistent effort. Some with this aspect become loners who prefer to work privately or alone, or pursue careers that require years of study or depth of thought. Saturn gives a desire to build and construct, to establish order, to lay firm foundations, to work with physical reality, and to control or govern responsibly in a moral and cautious manner.
There is frequently a knack for business, organization, and management. Because Saturn signifies rules, regulations, codes of conduct, structure, and disciplined thinking, you might consider a career involving government, administration, business, banking, the law, teaching, science, computer programming, mathematics, accounting, or library science. This aspect often indicates self-made individuals who achieve success and recognition as a result of their own efforts. You may go through a long period of apprenticeship with low wages on your way to eventual success. Hardships early on, or difficulties with one of your parents, may spur you to great accomplishments as an adult, but you may need to exercise caution against callous, ruthless, or calculating behaviour toward others.

Sun in the 11th House:

You are a humanitarian who aims to treat everyone as equals. You seek to be unique and original, and you do your best to avoid bias and prejudice. Social status is less important to you than belonging to a group of diverse personalities. Your identity, in fact, is somehow linked to a larger unit than yourself. You have high hopes and goals, and tend to look at life in terms of opportunities. You have magnetic appeal, as people sense your broad tolerance and openness. The friendships you establish are crucial to your development. If you identify too much with your friendships and your friendliness, you may become too impersonal and alienate those who would like to get close to you.

Alternate Interpretation: You are everybody’s friend, but not always a friend to everybody. You often value friendship above love and may choose to keep your friends for a lifetime. Quick to bond, you may be equally quick to separate from a relationship when it appears you have nothing in common. You will doubtless find a place in a variety of social and service clubs, and hold more than one office. You adapt easily and fit into almost any group because you know how to get the most out of a situation, refuse to compromise your ideals, and maintain harmony by finding values to which all can relate.

The Moon’s aspects…..

MOON (25°46′ Sagittarius) square *PLUTO (27°8′ Virgo) orb 1°37′

Moon square Pluto
You are not always open with your feelings. Although you have a strong urge to share your innermost emotions with others, you have a simultaneous desire to control what others know about you, which likely stems from fear. You crave a deep feeling of belonging and intimate connection with others, and yet your approach to realizing these desires is often self-defeating. Attempts to control situations as you strive towards this goal generally backfire. Fear of loss and betrayal can consume you, and manipulating others so that you can keep them attached to you leads to empty satisfaction at best, and hopelessness at worst. At times you come across as emotionally distant and self-protective (and even cold in expression), and other times you are expressing an intensity of feeling that can go so far as intimidate, overwhelm, and scare off others. As much as you want to share yourself emotionally with others, you rarely reveal your vulnerabilities. When angered and hurt by a loved one, you can express yourself with such intensity that it comes across as hostile and even hateful. You might sulk, but more likely you brood or even lash out. You may not even be aware of how strongly you express yourself in these instances, and you might come across as far more dangerous or hateful than you actually are. Alienating others can actually baffle you, as your goal is to become closer. Game playing is something that you should try to avoid. Even if you do “succeed” at keeping a person in your life through emotional manipulation for the time being, you will never know that they are with you of their own accord, and this only serves to refuel your fear of rejection. Learning to accept your emotions for what they are, and more importantly, to express them in a manner that allows others “in” rather than scares them away, is an important challenge in your life.

The Moon in the Houses

The Moon in the houses can reveal where and how we go about seeking emotional satisfaction. Important clues to the reason for perpetual emotional unrest can be found through the study of the house position of the Moon, and these take the form of constant changes or ups and downs in the areas of life ruled by the house. It is in these areas that we should aim to make deep attachments rather than superficial and temporary emotional thrills if we are seeking out a true feeling of belonging and emotional fulfillment.

Moon in the 6th House

You have an emotional need to be useful, to work productively, to be organized and on top of things, and to lead a healthy life. If these matters are chaotic in your life, it’s a symptom of emotional unrest. You need a lot of variety on the job–to be stimulated and engaged in order to feel happy. Some of you might seem to change jobs often, forever in search of the “perfect fit” job. Acceptance that any job requires some level of routine is hard for you. You are very sensitive, and especially aware of minor health annoyances or body aches and pains. Some of you have hypochondriac symptoms. Some attempt to get out of things they don’t want to do by emphasizing health problems or even exaggerate illnesses in order to gain sympathy. At your best, however, you’re a person who always helps out and shows your affection for others in practical ways in order to help them solve problems and improve their lives.

*You have a sympathetic nature and instinctively reach out to people in need of help. You also have a deeply ingrained tendency to want to improve or “fix” other people’s lives, which can be annoying to the person who has no desire to be changed or “helped” in this way. For you, affection and caring must be expressed in tangible acts or service of some kind.

Mercury

Mercury Symbol Glyph

Mercury, the messenger of the gods, is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo. Mercury is the messenger in Astrology as it is in Mythology. It is the planet of day-to-day expression and communication. Mercury’s action is to take things apart and put them back together again. It is an opportunistic planet, decidedly unemotional and curious.

In modern times, we tend to “meet” people’s Mercury first. Many people make a connection for the first time through e-mails, for example. Mercury rules whether we are flowery in our speech and/or written words, concise in our choice of words, or business-like even in our personal communications.

Mercury not only rules communication, it represents coordination. Thought processes, ideas, and sensory information from both unconscious and unconscious sources all need to be coordinated and understood. Mercury analyzes, sorts, groups, and makes sense of things. How does we handle nervous energy? How do we express and convey our thoughts? How do we approach others and information in order to learn and exchange ideas?

When we are “acting out” our Mercury, we are inquisitive, curious, communicative, and versatile. On the negative side, we can be high-strung or nervous, nit-picky, indecisive, and overly technical.

On a personal level, look to Mercury in the chart to reveal how individuals get their point across, how they study, and how they process information. Mercury by sign shows an individual’s style of communication. By house, Mercury reveals where natives seek to have a voice as well as which areas of life they tend to intellectualize and give a lot of thought to. Mercury colors the planets it aspects with a desire for communication and exchange of information. Similarly, the planets Mercury aspects affect the way an individual communicates. Mercury prominent in a chart points to wit, liveliness, and curiosity.

Mercury in the Signs

What style of communication do we use? How do we make decisions? How do we pick up, process, absorb, and exchange information? These questions are answered, in part, by Mercury’s placement by sign of the zodiac. You may be an Aries, but you could also have Mercury in Taurus, so your style of communication is not quite as spirited as one would expect from an Aries. Mercury () refines the Sun sign, and it helps to define how we take in–and give out–information from the world around us.Mercury in AriesMercury in Aries communicators make quick decisions–so quick that you might think they don’t much like thinking things over. The truth is, Aries communicators don’t have a lot of patience for mulling. Their decisions are often driven by the need for instant gratification.

Mercury in Aries men and women are generally quick and to the point in their communications. They are direct and candid, and some may even think their style is crude at times. At times, they can come across as downright aggressive, but that usually happens when they encounter opposition to their opinions and ideas. It is generally a result of frustration, because Mercury in Aries almost childishly assumes that others will accept their opinions smoothly. There is a sensitivity and defensiveness to Aries, and when Mercury is placed in the sign, natives tend to be quite personally attached to their ideas.

These people have a tendency towards streamlined learning. They prefer not to get bogged down in details, and are adept at dismissing what they feel are irrelevant details.

There’s a certain innocent charm to Aries communicators. Many will appreciate this sign’s utilitarian approach. You can pretty much count on them being straight with you, even if their Sun Sign is the more indirect Pisces.

This Mercury position favors starting new things. Aries is not attached to outdated ideas, and generally adopts an enthusiastic style. Criticism or negative feedback can be taken personally. Still, they are not afraid of a fight or a challenge, on a mental level. They have a visionary intelligence that is sometimes on the idealistic side.

New projects and ideas are taken on with an unmatched enthusiasm with this position of Mercury. However, because there is no shortage of new ideas in life, Mercury in Aries natives can be quick to dump one mental pursuit, way of thinking, or opinion for something fresher and more exciting.

Mercury in Aries people are often excellent at promoting their new ideas. When they’re excited about something, their style of communication can be so motivating and fun, the enthusiasm is downright infectious. Aries is a leader, quick to adopt absolutely new and innovative methods–they get a rise out of leading too!

If the Sun Sign is in Pisces or Taurus, these people can sometimes wonder why others get frustrated with them. The truth is, they may come across as more brusque and impatient than they actually are. Mercury in Aries natives make quick decisions, and they don’t always understand it when others hedge issues or stay “on the fence”.

Mercury Conjunct Venus in the Natal Chart

Mercury conjunction Venus (26° Aries 51’34”23° Aries 44′ 7″) orb 3°.12

MercuryconjunctionVenus
Mercury conjunct Venus
You are charming and gracious, poetic in your self-expression, and usually very polite. This position brings refinement to the nature and an appreciation for the arts. You aim to balance and bring harmony to your world. You can be, at times, quite indecisive, as you tend to see everyone’s point of view, and can see value in almost any perspective or opinion. You have a strong sense of fairness.

You are very agreeable and enjoy socializing. Some with this aspect are a little on the lazy side, preferring to socialize than work.

You might intellectualize or rationalize your feelings, perhaps thinking a little too much about love and relationship to the point that you lose touch with how you truly feel. You might be attracted to, or attract, intellectual sorts as partners. If this conjunction is challenged, you might frequently attract partners who are tricky or conniving.

Many of you are talented at writing and/or speaking. You thoroughly enjoy the written and spoken word, literature, wordplay, puns, and enlightening conversations. Many with Mercury conjunct Venus in their charts are downright eloquent.

While most people like you, your ability to tune in to the person with whom you are currently speaking to is so strong that you might be accused of being two-faced or superficial. You might also choose your words carefully in order to avoid conflict, and others might not know how you truly feel as a result.

 Mercury conjunct Venus
You get along with most people and are usually willing to make compromises in relationships to maintain harmony. That doesn’t mean you become a doormat for others, but you have a strong sense of fairness and do not offend others without just cause. Others are seldom threatened or intimidated by you, largely because of your affable nature and social grace. You are willing to listen to anyone’s opinions and suggestions before making major decisions.

Direct competition may be uncomfortable for you, and you may feel more at ease working with a small group of people. Perhaps you enjoy public speaking or performing in the dramatic arts. Another possible source of satisfaction for you would be writing, because of your natural talent for expressing yourself well. You have an imaginative mind and are clever at cooking up schemes to improve your economic situation. It is not difficult for you to turn your many creative ideas into ready cash.

Others will usually support you in what you do because they can see that you exercise good judgment. They can believe in you and are glad to pitch in to help you succeed. Just be sure you don’t ask anyone else to take risks you yourself wouldn’t attempt. Actually, any chances that you take will be well considered and are probably not that risky after all.

In love relationships, you have a talent for communicating your needs and desires to your partner. You are attracted to people who share your artistic talents or at least an appreciation of the arts. The worst possible mate for you would be one who is socially uncouth. In sex you have a healthy open attitude and can discuss the subject rather easily with your partner. Verbal expression during sex can be very stimulating for you! A lover who doesn’t communicate or who is quiet in bed may not be very satisfying for you in the long haul.

Mercury in the Houses

Mercury in the 10th House

You are good with language, and generally use this talent in your profession. You can have an authoritative air about you, or you are talented at communicating and negotiating with those in authority. You might have more than one job going at once much of the time, you could change your career directions frequently, or you could be attracted to jobs that keep you on the move. You require frequent changes of setting or activities in order to remain stimulated and challenged. You are skilled at bringing fresh energy to your conversations or to your job, perhaps because you need the stimulation.

Venus

Venus Symbol Glyph

Venus is the Goddess of Love. In Astrology, Venus has dual rulership over Libra and Taurus. As a result, Venus represents two main areas of our life: love and money.

“Love and money” is actually a simplistic interpretation of Venus. Venus rules our sentiments, what we value, and the pleasure we take in life. Grace, charm, and beauty are all ruled by Venus. Through Venus, we learn about our tastes, pleasures, artistic inclinations, and what makes us happy.

We look to Venus in the natal chart to see how we approach relationships of the heart, as well as what gives us pleasure. Do we enjoy the give and take of relationships (Venus in Libra), the security our relationships give us (Venus in Cancer), or the thrill of the conquest (Venus in Aries)? Its placement in the houses of the natal chart reveal which areas of life we seek to balance, refine, and derive pleasure from. Do we take particular pleasure in our day-to-day work and routines (Venus in the 6th house), in study and travel (Venus in the 9th house), or in taking care of our house and home (Venus in the 4th house)?

We also turn to Venus to show how we spend our money, the types of gifts we buy, and how much we spend on leisure activities (not to mention the kinds of leisure activities we seek out).

Traditionally, astrologers have interpreted the position and condition of Venus in the natal chart differently depending on the gender of the native.  The reason for treating Venus in men’s and women’s chart differently is based on the idea that men may tend to “disown” the qualities of Venus in his own chart. Since the energies of Venus have to go somewhere, when a man doesn’t “own”, or identify with, his Venus, the energies would be projected onto the women he meets and relates with. Similarly, women are thought to more easily relate to and “own” Venus qualities.

The concept of projection is an interesting and valid one. However, while it may hold true with Venus to some extent today, we prefer not to attach gender bias to Venus and Mars. In our experience, men and women tend to take on the role of Venus in their relationships in equal measure.

Venus rules attachments to others. It rules attractiveness–both the ability to attract and attraction to others (and things). Venus energy is harmonious, and this is why people with Venus prominent in their charts are often peace-makers. In Venus, we find a need to be appreciated and to appreciate. Venus rules, amongst other things, the arts, love and romance, beauty and the beautifying process, money, entertainment, leisure, sensuality, and comfort.

Venus is never more than 45 degrees away from the Sun. Venus rules Libra and Taurus, is in detriment in the opposite signs of those it rules (Aries and Scorpio), is exalted in Pisces, and in its fall in Virgo.

When we are “acting out” our Venus, we compromise, make peace, are loving, and act with taste. On the negative side, we can be self-indulgent, self-centered, vain, and superficial.

Venus in Aries

Venus in AriesVenus in Aries people flirt by being up-front, direct, and even daring. They try to win you over by expressing how enterprising and independent they are. Their style of expressing love can be maddeningly “me”-centered, but the right person for them will find this approach charming. People get turned on by Venus in Aries’ aura of innocent charm, even when they are being childish and impatient. Venus in Aries men and women behave in a childlike, fun-loving manner in love. They are turned on by energy and activity. Turn-offs include a relationship that is considered stuffy or too “mature”, vagueness, and beating around the bush. In love, Venus in Aries people are hopelessly addicted to the conquest. In order for a relationship to remain fresh and new for them, they require plenty of stimulation.Pleasing Venus in Aries involves fueling their need for action. Be direct, open, and honest with them — they won’t much like game-playing or evasiveness, unless it is in the complete spirit of fun. Feed their need for spontaneity, and appreciate their playfulness. Understand their desire for the relationship to remain young and fresh. Aries likes to take the lead in love (even if their Sun Sign is gentle Pisces) — let them, at least most of the time. Indulge them their many whims, and understand that they thrive on competition, even when they’re competing with you!

Personal Ad Bio: “I have a strong sense of adventure. I will win you over. I’m self-taught and self-sufficient.”

Venus in the Houses

Venus in the 10th House

Others tend to respect you for your charming manner, and you have many admirers, although some of these are admirers from afar, as there is an aura about you that is charming yet strangely (and intriguingly) distant. You have a great need to be recognized or admired for your charm, beauty, or loving manner, but should be careful not to become too wrapped up in what others think of you, as you might come across as phony or superficial. Some people with this position are “married” to their work or to their image. You are good at making contacts and organizing social events.

Mars

Mars Symbol Glyph

Marsthe God of War, is the ruler of Aries. In astrology, Mars is the planet of energy, action, and desire. It is the survival instinct, and can be thought of as the “leftover” animal nature of man.

Mars rules our animal instincts for aggression, anger, and survival. Our sexual desires come under the rule of Mars. Whereas Venus rules romantic attraction, Mars is most associated with basic body attraction. This is the planet of action rather than reaction. With Mars, there is no contemplation before action. The drive associated with Mars differs from that of the Sun in that it is self-assertion rather than assertion of the will; it is raw energy rather than creative energy.

Mars is the push that gets us out of bed in the morning, our drive and desire nature, and our active energy. When we are “acting out” our Mars, we are assertive, directed, forthright, and adventurous. On the negative side, we can be impulsive, rash, impatient, aggressive, and forceful. In the chart, the position of Mars by sign shows our basic sexual nature, how we express our anger (our temper), what makes us angry, and our first instinct to act. Our competitive nature is revealed in the nature of Mars’ sign. By house, the position of Mars shows the areas of life where we apply our drive and express our enthusiasm. Planets that Mars contacts are colored with action and self-assertion. These planets can represent the kinds of experiences we seek.

Mars in the Signs

What makes us tick? What gets us all fired up? What makes us angry, and how do we express that anger? What do we really desire, and how do we go about getting it? The sign position of Mars reveals much about our basic animal nature—our aggressive instincts, our sexuality, and our drive.Mars in Aquarius

It can be a little difficult to understand exactly what makes a Mars in Aquarius native tick. And that’s absolutely fine with them—they enjoy surprising people. The tried-and-true methods of getting things done are far too boring for those born with Mars in this unique and original sign. Mars in Aquarius natives often have a rather original view of the world as well. These natives are generally quite proud of their independence. They are not easily pushed around with Mars in this fixed sign. Because Aquarius is progressive and open-minded when it comes to the world at large, it can be surprising that on a personal level, Mars in Aquarius natives can be quite obstinate. If they feel boxed in, they are quite likely to rebel. If you’ve discovered a pattern to their ways, they’ll make sure they aren’t so predictable the next time around. Being seen as “normal” simply won’t do!

With Mars, the planet of energy and drive, in an Air sign, these individuals get off on mental and intellectual pursuits. Aquarius is a somewhat scattered sign, even though it’s persevering in the long haul. If there’s a method to their madness, it isn’t always easy to see. Projects are taken on with a shotgun-style approach with this position of Mars.

Mars in Air signs are generally quite clever at getting what they want; in Aquarius, they are particularly adept at getting their way. While this is not an overtly aggressive position of Mars (Aquarius has a manner that is far too detached to come across too forcefully), it is very willful. Combine willfulness with the cleverness of an Air sign, and you have a person who is quite creative about getting what they want—which generally is getting their way! Unlike with Mars in Aries or Leo natives, for example, you won’t always know you’re being dominated by a Mars in Aquarius native!

One of the most pleasant characteristics of Mars in Aquarius natives is their willingness to let others be. They place a lot of value in freedom and individuality—theirs and yours. They need space to be themselves and plenty of room to breathe. Generally not the touchy-feely types, these natives often laugh at sentimentality and tradition. In personal relationships, their approach to intimacy is definitely on the detached side, which can be baffling and frustrating to more personal and affectionate personalities.

Of all the personal planets in the sign of Aquarius, Mars placed here can show the strongest “reformer” streak. The Aquarian ideal of equality works big time with this position, and the desire to push their agenda on others (usually in creative, rather than aggressive, ways) runs high. Obstinacy and a superiority complex are this position’s least desirable traits; openness to new ways of doing things (as long as they’re not forced upon them) is where they shine.

Mars trine Uranus

Mars trine Uranus (4° Aquarius 46’12”9° Libra 57’11”) orb 5°.18

You are highly original and very enthusiastic about life. You express yourself with creative drama, which leaves a lasting effect on others. In order to explore your numerous creative potentials, you demand a great deal of personal freedom from those who are close to you. You have seemingly unlimited energy with which to pursue your goals and have many projects to occupy your time. You sometimes become impatient because you have so much you want to accomplish and only a limited amount of time to do so. You truly enjoy having limitless options in your life and feel sorry for those who lead a more boring existence! Never bored, you want to surround yourself with others who are exciting and futuristic in their outlook.

One lesson of this aspect is to learn to be patient with others who are not similarly inclined. Also, learn to do things in moderation. Take a vacation and unwind from time to time. In your love life, you are impulsive and can become restless if the relationship doesn’t seem to be going somewhere. The idea that you can grow as an individual while maintaining a partnership is important to you. Your sexual needs are strong, and you need a partner who shares this quality. You have inexhaustible reserves of physical energy when it comes to sex, and you find it extremely natural to experiment and to introduce variety into your sex life. You don’t quite understand it when a partner doesn’t have the same need! To you, changing the way you make love is completely natural, and you wouldn’t have a good time with a partner who prefers to keep things status quo in the bedroom. However, you are willing to accept your partner’s limits, and you take things in stride. An exciting and fun lover, you don’t bore a lover or get into the kinds of sexual “ruts” that some people do. You may find marriage rather restrictive and prefer to enter into a more unconventional arrangement, such as a live-in relationship. You have a wide circle of friends, and your mate must be willing and able to not restrict your access to them through possessiveness or jealousy. There is no quicker way to lose you!

The trine aspect is the more dynamic of the two harmonious aspects. Those with the sextile can call upon these traits when needed, and those with the trine between the Mars and Uranus have incorporated the traits of the aspect into their personalities, expressing them naturally and consistently.

Alternate, short interpretations: Mars sextile Uranus or Mars trine Uranus: *You are dynamic, decisive, and somewhat impulsive. You respond quickly and spontaneously to challenges, and you enjoy vigorous physical activities that require fast reflexes and a good sense of rhythm and timing. You have an abundance of energy and vitality, and a restless desire to see progress and change – you hate stagnation. You are individualistic and make a good leader, spearheading new projects and inspiring others to act.

#You find yourself brushing up against dangerous situations. Spiritually you learn from each one, eventually learning how to help others without taking unnecessary risks yourself.

Mars  trine Pluto

Mars trine Pluto (4° Aquarius 46’12”27° Virgo 8’52”) orb 7°.63
You are committed, determined, and passionate. For you, it’s all or nothing, and you are baffled by, and possibly impatient with, others who do things only halfway or half-heartedly. You are usually quite decisive, and often unwavering once committed. You are certainly a passionate person and you possess a fascinating and commanding aura. You are generally confident about your own talents. You employ strategy when you are going after something, and you are very talented at this, saving time and energy. While you are perfectly capable of outwitting others as a natural psychologist, whether you take advantage of this skill or not depends much on the rest of your natal chart.

The trine aspect is the more dynamic of the two harmonious aspects. Those with the sextile can call upon these traits when needed, and those with the trine between the Mars and Pluto have incorporated the traits of the aspect into their personalities, expressing them naturally and consistently.

Alternate, short interpretations: Mars sextile Pluto or Mars trine Pluto: *You dream up creative solutions to problems and take an imaginative, unusual approach to getting a job done. When difficulties arise you prefer to avoid conflict and confrontation in favor of more peaceful or subtle methods of resolving problems. Working to help others or for a cause that transcends your own narrow, personal interests is satisfying for you. You have an artistic flair and appreciate the colorful, unique, or strange.

#You are capable of applying tremendous effort to anything you attempt. The spiritual lesson is to learn moderation. Moderation often means acting like one of the pack instead of always being the leader.

Mars sextile Jupiter

Mars sextile Jupiter (4° Aquarius 46’12”2° Sagittarius 51’11”) orb 1°.92

You tend to be restless and prone to boredom. You need a partner who can keep up with your lightning responses to your environment—and one who truly understands your love of intellectual competition and sparring.

You have tremendous personal resources with which to achieve your goals. Although the goals you set for yourself are likely to be somewhat ambitious, you are willing to work hard to see that they are achieved. Ever since you were a child and learned to invent indoor games to amuse yourself, you have steadily worked at developing your intellectual skills. This prepared you to deal well with competitive situations in your adult life.

Communication is important to you. Your dramatic delivery and flair for using the right words make you a formidable opponent in any debate. It is particularly difficult to win a debate with you because you only present information that is well documented and convincing. You also use this skill to come to the aid of others who cannot defend themselves intellectually, which is admirable indeed!

Others admire your confidence and straightforwardness. You respect others who stand firm on their convictions and have high ambitions. It is important that everyone who deals with you does so with honesty and integrity.
In your love life, you appreciate a partner who is intellectually strong. You have a strong sex drive, but without the mental component, no relationship will last very long. You also seek a partner with spiritual consciousness. Your warmth and enthusiasm on a sexual level is apparent, and you don’t tire easily. Your interest doesn’t fade easily over time.

Mars sextile Neptune

Mars sextile Neptune  (4° Aquarius 46’12″~1° Sagittarius 58’45”) orb 2°.8

You have a good understanding of the “give and take” of life and are sensitive to the needs of others. Anything that will benefit society as a whole has your approval. You would find satisfaction in a career that allows you to touch the lives of others.

You are a romantic at heart and very sensitive in love. You must have honesty in your relationships and will accept nothing less. You are able to see through others to their real motivations, so insincerity is not easy to hide from you. Sometimes you can communicate with your lover without words, through expressions, gestures or “vibes.” You have strong emotional as well as physical needs, but your partner must also be refined and respectable. You seem to simply “know” things on a sexual level, which makes you an especially good lover. You pick up even the subtlest of nuances, and this intuitive understanding and “soft touch” is extremely attractive to many women. Your instinctive ability to be at the right place at the right time assists you greatly in life. This inherent spirituality can express itself well through the arts as well. Sexual fantasies are especially strong. In your life, you may become attracted to spiritual forms of sexuality, such as Tao and Tantra.

Mars in the Houses

On this page, interpretations of the placement of Mars in the twelve houses of the natal (birth) chart.

Mars in the 7th House

You have tremendous sexual energy—like the Energizer bunny, you keep going and going…! You need a partner who challenges you. In fact, someone who holds his own in an argument turns you on. Your close personal relationships are a source of conflict in your life, and you tend to pick partners who bring out the most aggressive side of your nature. In order for your love life to be more peaceful and satisfying, you will need to cultivate the art of compromise. Avoid a tendency to jump into altercations with others without first making a genuine effort to understand their point of view.

You’re willing to take a chance on anything and able to sense and act on opportunities. You need to be among people and enjoy brightening others’ days. Jupiter – Saturn Aspects:  Opposition

JupiteroppositionSaturn
Jupiter opposition Saturn
You suffer because you remember your failures more than your successes and consequently have a hard time developing a picture of yourself as a winner. In this sense you were born old. However, this same quality engenders a childish quality in you that tends to look for the “quick fix”, but hard work and consistency of effort brings success for you . Yes, you need some luck or some breaks, but these come from perspective, vision or aim in life. Work to see yourself as deserving good things in life because you’re willing to put forth honest effort.

*You tend to seesaw between hope, optimism, and faith versus doubt and oppression by limitations and practical realities. You need to overcome impatience and restlessness in order to achieve your dreams and desires for a better life.

#In all your business and personal dealings you have the capacity for patience. You keep one eye on the goal and the other on the moment-to-moment activities that lead you forward. You find that while relationships are significant, periods of seclusion are needed for you to integrate the spiritual changes you are experiencing.

JUPITER (2°51′ Sagittarius)  conjunction  NEPTUNE (1°58′ Sagittarius) orb 0°88′

jupiter  conjunct ()  neptune

Fire and Water – Expansion unites with Subconscious

This conjunction occurs approximately every thirteen years, and tends to create characteristics that are often similar to the Pisces temperament, where both the positive and the negative qualities of both planets are present and highly active. Tendencies towards excess, idealism, creativity and naivety will be evident. The Jupiter impulse of expansion may encourage you to reach beyond your actual capabilities. The sphere of relationships is likely to be a source of many lessons for you, and to reflect back several of your own tendencies towards those less realistic qualities of Jupiter and Neptune that are present in an unintegrated personality. Yet this ideal of relationships will still persist, often despite many disappointing experiences over the years. It is probably wiser to be more careful in your more personal and intimate relationships, because unless you are aware of what is occurring, your love life could be painful. Many relationships flounder today due to mutual self-ignorance, where inner projections of illusions and the anima-animus patterns overlay the real nature of the participants, until time dissolves them and each partner wakes up to realise that they are living with a stranger. When disappointment strikes you, there is a tendency to retreat into a private fantasy world. This can be positively used as a self-healing technique, but you must avoid any temptation to use this purely as an escape, for if you do so you risk losing contact with reality.

Saturn’s glyph, or symbol, shows the cross of matter (reality) over the soul, representing the material nature of man reigning. Note that the symbol of Saturn is the symbol of Jupiter inverted!

Saturn

Saturn Symbol Glyph

Saturnis the ruler of Capricorn. In Greek Mythology, Cronus was one of the Titans, and the father of Zeus. Cronus ate his children to prevent himself from being dethroned as the King of the Gods. That is, until his wife, Rhea, tricked him into swallowing a stone when Zeus was born.

In astrology, Saturn is associated with restriction and limitation. Where Jupiter expands, Saturn constricts. Although the themes of Saturn seem depressing, Saturn brings structure and meaning to our world. Saturn knows the limits of time and matter. Saturn reminds us of our boundaries, our responsibilities, and our commitments. It brings definition to our lives. Saturn makes us aware of the need for self-control and of boundaries and our limits.

Saturn is often associated with our fathers or father/authority figures. In childhood, the discipline, rules, and regulations imposed on us by our authority figures–from parents, teachers, and the like–were not always pleasant, but they actually helped us to understand the world around us. Similarly, Saturn’s lessons actually help us to grow.

In the chart, the position of Saturn by sign and house reveals our own limitations, fears, and sense of responsibility. Saturn brings definition, and often limitation, to the planets it aspects.

Saturn in Taurus
Your Taurus Saturn Sign

Taurus Saturn Sign

Saturn in Taurus has a deep need to feel secure; both emotionally and financially. They like to keep a strict control over their daily tasks. Unfortunately for them, nothing comes easy. They have to work hard for everything they get. They tend to be thrifty. They are patient and disciplined, with a matter-of-fact attitude. While they are not very spontaneous, they are more than willing to work as hard as necessary to attain their goals.

Taurus Saturn does well in politics or business. The arts may hold some interest for them. They don’t rush their decisions in anything. They are reliable friends to have around. Saturn in Taurus has some trouble with unconditional love… they can’t help but expect some compensation for what they give. They either undervalue or overvalue their possessions and assets. They often will only settle for all or nothing in a given situation. It benefits them to realize that under it all, they may be trying to buy love. Once this fact is accepted, they can use their accumulation skills much more effectively in a healthy way.

Saturn in Taurus is loyal and trustworthy. Once they find a position on something, they are hard to persuade to see a different view. While it may take them awhile to decide what to say, once they decide they are often worth listening to.

They can sometimes be possessive or miserly. At other times, Taurus Saturn may feel it is greedy to accept wealth for themselves and feel guilty for owning nice things. They don’t want to appear selfish. When they fall into this category, they are happy to have a place to live and a few bucks in their pocket. At the same time, they may fear losing what they have.

Taurus Saturn can be jealous, stubborn and have great endurance. They can discipline themselves to the point that they can easily put off immediate gratification as long as the reward is visible in the future. They must learn to manage finances practically.

Physically, Saturn in Taurus may have to deal with problems of the throat. This may relate to problems with speech in some people.

Saturn in the Houses

Saturn’s position in a particular house of your natal chart significantly alters the characteristics of that house.

Saturn has a powerful and life altering influence. We define Saturn as Sloan-Mcg - Sophisticated Saturnreality. Reality may be limiting but at the same time provides structure to our lives. Keep in mind that individuals perceive reality differently. The reality we are referring to is societal and that is common to all. Saturn influences make you work, take care of your responsibilities, and fit into society. Saturn is the antidote to Uranus’ creative change and Neptune’s fantasies. Saturn influences may be used to put in the effort, organize, and implement creative change. One’s deepest dreams and fantasies can come true by embracing Saturn and putting in the required time and effort.

Saturn in the Eleventh House

One-to-one relationships are a seventh house function. The eleventh house is best understood as one that governs an individual’s one-to-many relationships. This implies your relationship with friends, extended family, and the organization you work for, and so on. Saturn in the eleventh house therefore works much in the same way as in the seventh (read Saturn in the seventh), except that the nature of the relationships are different. You may find socializing tiresome and prefer to stay alone. Many people with this position feel some disdain for the superficial workings of casual friendships and of the group — that is, they feel uncomfortable and self-conscious about “going through the motions”, doing and saying the right things, and so forth. At the root of this perception, there may be a fear of failure in a group setting. It may be easier to fall back on, and take too much pride in, your uniqueness as an individual rather than submit to the idea that you belong and identify with a group. It can be a fear of being “ordinary” or just part of the crowd that prevents you from loosening up in social situations. The fact that you take friendships more seriously than most can give you a heavy sense of responsibility and reluctance to form ties, as if you somehow sense that forming them will burden or obligate you too much. Staying alone might seem to be a better use of your time. Watch out for this. A deep-seated feeling of loneliness and separateness may be the result. Take time to personalize your social interactions. Since you find group activity uncomfortable, develop a few good friends to hang out with. You have a greater capacity than most to be a loyal and long-standing friend! Beyond friendships and groups, the eleventh house is associated with our long-term goals, hopes, and dreams. Saturn here can make you just as reluctant to commit to any one life path, and to articulate or define your innermost wishes, as you are to attach yourself to a group identity. It is as if doing so would be too binding and revealing. When you learn to identify and overcome your fear of failure, you will discover that this fear has been the only thing holding you back from defining and working towards your dreams.

Pluto

Pluto’ glyph, or symbol, combines the circle (spirit) over the crescent (receptivity) and the cross (matter). This glyph suggests spiritual receptivity to “superworlds” or the superconscious, placed above the physical world.

A common, although perhaps somewhat outdated, glyph for Pluto merges the letters P and L (which are the initials of the man who discovered Pluto, Percival Lowell), and is pictured here at right.

PlutoGod of the Underworld, is the ruler of Scorpio. (In Greek mythology, the corresponding god was Hades). In Astrology, the energies of Pluto are transforming. Pluto represents subconscious forces, ruling all that is “below the surface”.

On the up side, Pluto is associated with renewal and rebirth. It represents endings and new beginnings, as well as spiritual growth and rebirth. Negative expression of Pluto is an obsessive desire for power and control and general destructiveness.
